A Global Institute for Self-Governance, Justice & New Thinking

Scholarship in service of a changing world.

The New School of Thoughts is a global nonprofit built on a patient belief: that the world's most important ideas belong to everyone, not only to the institutions that have historically held them. We advance self-governance, social justice, and participatory learning through scholarship, community, and education that reaches every level of the public, K–12 students, and university learners. We honor the good already being done in every corner of the world, and we build platforms to share, learn from, and carry that work forward across communities, countries, and languages.

Our Programs
  • The 180 Project is our flagship global scholarship, open to students at every academic level, in every country, in every language. Applicants share their research in a 180-second pitch and a single static slide. Awards are given for clarity, depth of inquiry, and public resonance.
  • The Kitchen Table is our virtual office hours program, a warm, informal space where applicants come with questions, drafts, and doubts and are met with real support. More programs are in development, including public and K–12 courses launching in the year ahead.
Our Commitment

We do not exist to tear down. We exist to lift up the poor, the overlooked, the unrecognized, and every faithful hand still building something worth building. We are here to help the good grow.

A Note From the Institute

“We believe scholarship is a public good. Self-governance is not inherited, it is practiced. Care is a form of research. And new thought belongs to no single tradition.”
